About Global Net Trade

Global Net Trade was founded on November 11, 1999 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The original goal to was develop the Internet's first online small business stock exchange. However, due to government regulations and red tape the project never came to fruition. Instead the idea become to help another group that also lacked the visibility and financial rewards. This group was the local artists of Cape Breton.

On December 31, 1999 just minutes before midnight this idea became a reality with the launch of the site UCanBuyArt.com. The site had humble beginnings with only 4 artists and only one of which offering to sell their artworks. Now UCanBuyArt is one of the leading web art galleries with over 300 artists from over 30 countries. It was featured on CNN International news and recommended by Better Homes and Gardens as one of the top online galleries. This was Global Net Trade's first successful web venture and the popularity has lead to the development of new web businesses.

At the end of 2001 Global Net Trade teamed up with a Toronto real estate broker Howard Drukarsh to develop his web site Virtually Toronto Real Estate The site was originally launched two years prior and had received only 5 buying requests and no sales over that time period. The newly launched site was an instant success and within two months was receiving 5-10 requests per day and now receives 2-3 sales per month.

The success of this real estate site lead to partnerships with real estate agents across Canada and the US starting with the launch of New York City Real Estate with Holly Slocum of Douglas Elliman in Manhattan. By the end of 2003, it was obvious that the agents could benefit from a network of agents sites. As many agents were referring leads to each other and many visitors needed to sell a home in one area and move to another area. At first the sites formed the North American Real Estate Network (NAREN) later this was developed into the site Real Estate City The Real Estate City network is now a community of over 100 websites and agents.

Today Global Net Trade to develop not only its own web businesses, but helps many companies large and small to become successful on the web.
